Artist’s Statement 2010
My art is a rhythmic communication of lines, shapes, and colors that reflects my life experiences and
interactions with others. Through my art, I create a dialogue with the world that combines the real
world with my imagination. While my creations on wood and canvas have deep meaning to me, I feel
it is important that my art present itself in an uncomplicated way. That it be simply stated- with
defined use of line, space, and color- the basic elements of visual communication.
My designs- 2 dimensional paintings, assemblage art, and art furniture- are strongly influenced by
Gustav Klimt, Paul Klee, and Roland Hockett, among others. The rhythm of my life affects the
surface, the colors, the strength, and the mood of what I create.
All lives are intertwined and your journey becomes part of mine. It is all creative energy.
From inside to outside, from you to me, from me to you, flowing through the world.
